English: The hospital transport General J. K. Barnes. Built in Williamsburg, New York by Lawrence & Foulks in 1864, the ship, originally intended for merchant service, was quickly requisitioned for service in the ongoing American Civil War and refitted as a hospital transport. She was sunk by a hurricane off Cape Hatteras in 1878.
